Disagreement over administrative methods adopted by certain Swinton Councillors has led to the resignation of Mr Leonard Firth, 32-years-old secretary of Swinton arid Kilnhurst Labour Party.

Mr. Firth’s resignation was received on Monday at the monthly meeting of Swinton and Kilnhurst Labour Party. when he announced his break from the party He declined to give any reason for his decision other than “personal reasons.”

Coun. J. White, of Kilnhurst, was appointed temporary secretary in succession to Mr. Firth.

Mr. Firth, who lives at 83, Charles Street, Swinton, joined the Labour Party last May, and two months later was appointed secretary of the Swinton and Kilnhurst Labour Party.

Since nationalisation of the coal industry, he has served as Area Dust Suppression Officer for No, 3 Area of the North-Eastern Divisional Coal Board.

Monday’s meeting of the Swinton and Kilnhurst Labour Party was originally to have been the annual meeting, but because nomination forms from associated bodies had not been received in time for the Executive Committee to select a Panel of candidates for this year’s elections, the business was deferred until the March meeting.
