Able Seaman Siddall, son of Councillor Mrs John Siddall, 208 Wath road, Swinton was killed in action on April 2.

He was a machine-gunner and had had been serving since December, 1915, having been once wounded and once invalided home with sickness.

He was 21, and orginally joined the Navy, but transferred to the Naval Division in order to be with a friend and neighbour, Albert Share.

He was an exceptionally good shot, and was fond of sport. His brother, Arthur is in training in England. A memorial service is to be held at the Swinton Parish Church on Sunday afternoon.
