Lost with the Nubian
Swinton Victim of the Channel Raid
Seaman Leonard Housley
H.M.S. Nubian
There is reason to fear that Seaman Leonard Housley of the destroyer “Nubian”, sunk in the raid by the German destroyers on the Channel transport service on the night of October 26th-27th, has been lost.
His mother, Mrs H.E. Housley, of 36, Station Street, Swinton has received the following message:
“I regret to have to inform you that telegraphic information has reached the Department that Leonard Housley, ordinary seaman, belonging to H.M.S. Nubian, is reported to be missing after the action of 26th-27th October.
In these circumstances it is feared there can be no doubt that he has lost his life.”
