Roman Grinding Stone

Mr. Lyndon Hall and his wife, Janet, examining the upper stone of the hand grinding mill, possibly used in the area during the Roman period, and unearthed during gardening by Mr. Hall at his new home, 83, Rockingham Road, Swinton.

The stone has aroused the interest of Mr. M. J. Dalby, the Keeper of Antiquities at Doncaster Museum, who will be visiting the site to make further investigations. Mr. Dalby has requested that the stone should eventually be housed in the Museum.
