Rockingham’s match with Swinton had an exciting finish. Swinton winning with one run to spare. Batting first, Swinton made a poor start, losing the first five wickets for onlv 33 runs. Baines batted well to hit 22. and Young (25) and Hydes (17) were the only batsmen to make anything of the bowling. the last three wickets falling without any alteration to the score.
Rockingham lost an early wicket when R Gray was bowled for 9. Bramley batted well to hit 27. and with Pearson hitting 14. Rockingham appeared well set for comfortable win. Splendid bowling by Hydes und Bayliss, backed up keen fielding. lost Rockingham five wickets for 14 runs, leaving 11 for win when the last man went in. Two fours by Wroe sent Rockingham within one run of the Swinton total, when Gill placed a delivery into the hands of Crabtree. Hydes had taken five for 26 and Bayliss four for 24.
