Rawmarsh’s First Defeat.
Rawmarsh’s long trail of drawn games ended—at least for the nonce—at Swinton on Saturday.
They were not impressive with bat or ball and Swinton won comfortably. The Rawmarsh batting display was disappointing and the Swinton bowlers kept them pegged down for long spells. Denton, for instance, bowled 16 overs and had only 17 rune hit off them, for his 3 wickets. Hart took 3 for 13 in 3 overs, and finished with 3 for 20.
The Swinton fielding, if not quite up to the high water mark of the Wath match, was again commendably keen; the improvement in this department of the team’s work is receiving warm appreciation.
Goddard distinguished himself with three smart catches.
