Complaint has often been made accommodation on public service vehicles travelllng from Mexborough to Swlnton around the hour of 4 p.m. is almost wholly taken by Secondary School pupils, and that the remainder of would-be passengers are literally left standing.
A suggestion comes from a member of the Swinton Council that the school authorities should be asked to arrange school leaving times so as to avoid any concerted rush, and allow of more gradual departure.
I do not know whether it intended that some scholars should allowed to leave before the completion of lessons, whether others should kept in after the normal time of departure, but I should think that there not much prospect of either being considered.
A wiser alternative would surely to appeal for more vehicles during the rush hour. The demand is certainly there
