More Water for Swinton To-Day.

Swinton people will be glad to learn that this (Friday) afternoon they should feel the benefit of the new supply which the Urban Council have succeeded in obtaining from Sheffield via Rotherham and Rawmarsh. The work of laying the necessary connecting pipe line (on which workmen are seen engaged in the picture) has been accomplished with commendable speed, thanks to splendid co-operation by the Rotherham, Rawmarsh and Swinton local authorities. The new main links up the Piccadilly pumping station with the Rawmarsh system, and from to-day Swinton should have a regular water sup-ply once more.

It is earnestly hoped that this additional supply of water, drawn chiefly from the Derbyshire hillsides, will solve Swinton’s water ; supply problem for many years to come.
