Mexborough Council Prosecutions

Walter Outram, Carter, Swinton was summoned at the instance of the Mexborough Urban District Council for throwing coal on the highway, at Mexborough, on 20th February.

Mr J W Hattersley prosecuted on behalf of the District Council.

PC Farr said he saw the defendant take a load of coal on the footpath. He spoke to defendant, who said he did not know he was doing anything wrong.

Mr Hattersley said it was only fair to say that defendant was a resident of Swinton, and perhaps did not know the Council were enforcing the Act, and since they had taken up case of that sort they were determined to bring all cases before the Court until the stop was put to the practice.

The defendant was ordered to pay the costs.
