Lighted Streets

The main road in Swinton is the least lighted street in the town.

Excepting at one or two important corners, only a dismal light is given from the small electric lamps.

These lamps are provided under an old agreement with the Tramway Company, at an annual cost of £1 10s. each. The gas lamps in the other streets cost £5 5s. yearly.

It ought to be possible to arrange for a more powerful lamp than a 60-watt, even if the cost is increased proportionately.

The tradespeople undoubtedly suffer through the main road being unattractive.
