Knight Commander Steele

Air Marshall Charles Ronald Steele, C.B., D.F.C.(R.A.F.) was made a Knight Commander of the Order of Bath in the New Year’s honours list.

Air Marshall Steele is the only son of the late Canon Hoyland Charles Steele, former Vicar of Hoyland and Swinton, a brother of Mrs Rogers, wife of Canon T.G. Rogers, Rector of Tankersley.

Air Marshall Steele spent most of his younger days in Swinton.
