At the Rotherham West Riding Court, yesterday, Mary Stead (18). Ethel Ward (35), Sarah – Standerline (24), and Nellie Adams (21). goods porters, employed by the Great Central Railway at Swinton, and whose homes are at Mexbro’. were charged with the theft of various articles, including wearing apparel, in course of transit.
Defendants, who pleaded guilty, were each fined £4.
Two months’ imprisonment was the punishment awarded to William Thompson, a checker, employed by the Great Central Railway at the same station, and whose home is at Mexborough, for the theft ofproperty, value £1 2s.
