Golden Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ramsden of 21, Dun Street, Swinton, who on Sunday celebrate their Golden Wedding were married at Thorpe Parish Church on February 27th, 1894.
Mr. Ramsden was born at Keadby 76 years ago and has been a canal worker for 46 years. Four generations of his family have been connected with the canals. Mr. Ramsden lost his right arm in an accident at the age of 13. When 20 he entered the employment of the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Canal.
He came to Swinton 42 years ago. He is a member of the Druids’ Society at Swinton and is a familiar figure at the Old Men’s Retreat. Mrs. Ramsden is 70 and a native of Thorne.
