Fourth Time Chairman

The new Chairman of Swinton Urban Council is County Council M Creighton, who has been a member of the Council since 1990, and chairman on three previous occasions.

Councillor Creighton has served the council since 1944 and has been chairman of Swinton Urban Council Finance Committee 19 years..

He is a member of Divisional Education Executive number 18 Combined Governors of Secondary Schools Wath, Swinton and District Joint Hospital Board, and the Rother Valley Assessment Committee.

A prominent trades unionist, he was for 20 years secretary of the local National Union of Railwaymen’s branch before he resigned 1935.
