For Cruelty
Harold Gregory, farm labourer. Poplar Grove Swinton, was on Monday, at Rotherham fined £3 for cruelty to a brown mare causing it the loss of the sight of the right eye with fork.
The animal belonged to his employer, Henry Turner. Abdy Farm, Brampton Bierlow. Defendant was engaged grooming the horses, and struck it three times on the body and once over the eye, because animal refused to be tied up.
Afterwards he told Mr. Turner that he was sorry and that the mare had lifted its head just as he struck it. .
Superintendent. Haynes «aid the defendant was a conscientious objector. who had entered the service of the complainant, Mr. Turner.
