Fatal Fall of Roof.
“Accidental death” was the verdict returned at an inquest at Mexborough on Saturday on Frederick Harrison (37), married, miner, who had been living at 31, Church Street, Swinton, and who died in the Montagu Hospital shortly after admission from shock following fractured ribs, broken leg and other injuries sustained through being knocked down by fall of roof on Thursday night at Manvers Main Colliery.
Alfred Whitley, who was working with Harrison when the fall occurred, said he heard a sudden bump and then saw Harrison buried up to the head.
It took about an hour to get him out.
