Ex-Swinton Authoress.

A former Swinton resident, Miss Ethel St. Clair-Kenyon, is to publish a book of verse in the near future. Miss Kenyon, who was educated at Swinton National School and later served as assistant mistress at the Swinton National Infants’ School from 1900 to 1915, during which time she was an active member of St. Margaret’s Church, is a certified teacher of the deaf and is at present an assistant at Dundee Institution for the Deaf, where she has been since 1916.

She has done a considerable amount of literary work mostly in the way of free lance journalism, devoting her talents largely to the writing of stories and verse for children.

She is an executive member of the Dundee Scroptimists Club and a member of the Dundee Sociological Club and of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Society, among other clubs.

She is a keen badminton player and has run a club at Dundee for eight years. She is also a member of the Dundee Art Society.

Miss St. Clair-Kenyon is interested in social work and slum visiting and has a wide variety of literary and artistic interests.
