Cutts Cup Final
Swinton Athletic 35 for 2 Sandygate 34
The final of the Cutts Cup at the Mexborough Athletic ground on Wednesday only lasted two hours, Swinton winning by eight wickets.
Not one of the Sandygate team reached double figures against the bowling of Ernest Jackson (picture) and J. Young, and they were all out for 31.
Wilkinson and young open the bowling for Swinton, but after the format sent down to overs he was replaced by Jackson. Wickets fell quickly and Jackson, out of 8 overs and 5 maidens and took 5 wickets for 4 runs. Young took four for 19.
With the first ball of the Swinton in it, after and was ball, but was on another wicket down they got the necessary runs. Cooper, four Sandgate at two wickets for 14.
After the match Mrs Cyril Winstanley, chairman of the Swinton Urban Council, presented the cup to Mr J Jenkinson, the captain of the Swinton team
