Crowded House
Swinton Case Heard.
“There are eleven of us and two dogs in a house in, which there are only two bedrooms,” said Arthur Barlow, of 61, Wentworth Road, Swinton, at Rotherham West Riding Police Court on Monday, when he applied for an ejectment order against Arthur Morris, of the same address.
Barlow added that Morris had paid him 5s. 9d. per week for two rooms in the house.’ and he gave him notice to quit on October 12th.
“There are five in one bed in my Chamber,” he contined, “and six occupy his (Morris’s) bedroom.”
In answer to the Chairman (Mr. J. S. Colton Fox), witness said the six who occupied Morris’s bedroom were Morris, his wife, and four children.
Morris, ,in court, agreed there were too many in the house, and said he had asked Barlow to give him a week in which to find another house. He was trying his best to get one.
The Chairman : That will do, you will get out in a week.
Morris : Yes.
