Tomorrow’s Election

Will Swinton Poll Match Increased Interest?

Citizens Association candidates are contesting every Ward into tomorrow’s Swinton Urban Council election and it is hoped they will be a heavy Poll to correspond with increased interest in local affairs in the town. In all Wards the retiring Labour Councillors are seeking re-election.

Central Ward

John William Taylor (Labour), glassworks fitter, 40 Broome Ave, Swinton, has been a member of the Council for three years, vice chairman of the Building and Highways Committee, is a member of the Youth Management Committee, Youth Council, Trades Council and has been a trade union official over 25 years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

George Harry James Telford (Citizen) of 11 Twyford close Swinton, is a mechanical fitter employed at Parkgate iron and steelworks and and A.E.U.shop steward.

Mr Telfer, married with one son, a listing Swinton for a number of years. He has been a citizens Association member since was formed a year ago.
