Coun. F. Tingle (Swinton)

Coun. Frank Tingle, a well-known Swinton businessmen and Councillor was born and has lived all his life at Swinton, setting up in business 24 years ago.

He was elected to Swinton U.D.C. as independent member of the Bridge Ward in 1932, being Chairman of the Council in 1939.  He has been Chairman of Swinton and Mexborough Gas board for five years and of the Swinton Food Control Committee since it was formed.  To his interest as its chairman, from the time of its inauguration, Swinton War Welfare Fund owes a good deal.

Coun. Tingle is also a member of the Swinton, Mexborough and Wath joint Ambulance Committee and Swinton Education Sub-Committee.

During the last war he served three and a half years with the York and Lancaster regiment in France, Belgium, Italy and Austria.
