Alderman Maurice Creighton, a member of Swinton Urban Council for 40 years, is to offer himself for re-election from May 14th.
Ald. Creighton holds a record for being Council Chairman most times-5-since he was elected in 1919. He has been a member of the County Council since 1944.
Ald. Creighton of 16, Church Street, Swinton, serves on many bodies including Schools’ Governors and Managers and the Divisional Education Executive, and is also a member of the Rotherham and Mexborough Area Hospitals’ Management Committee.
Four other Council members whose terms of office expires this year and who will offer themselves for re-election, are Mrs. W. Lawrence, Mr. A. H. Marriott, Mr. J. W. Taylor and Mr. J. White. Mrs. Lawrence is present Chairman of the Council.
