Assaulting a Sister in Law.
A man named Mark Cooper, living at Swinton, was ordered to pay a fine of 20s. and costs for having assaulted his sister-in-law.
Complainant wished to withdraw the summons, but the magistrates declined to allow the case to be settled in that way. The facts were consequently stated. Complainant said the defendant was her brother-in-law. When he came into her house he was going to attack a woman who happened to be there, and with whom he had previously been quarrelling.
She (complainant) declined to have any row in her house, and therefore told him to go, whereupon he struck her on the temple and on the arm. Defendant did not appear.
