Appointment for Popular Swintonian

Mr J.C. Wilkinson, of 10, Racecourse Road, Swinton, who was appointed headmaster of the Swinton Bridge Evening Institute on Tuesday, is headmaster of the Kilnhurst National School. He is a popular Swintonian and is actively connected with many organisation outside school work.

He helped to organise the recent Scout reunion dinner: is captain and president of the Kilnhurst Cricket Club, captained Swinton men’s hockey team for five years, is chairman of the Jubilee Trust  Fund and was entertainment secretary to the Jubilee and Coronation celebrations.

He is also a co-opted member of the Library Committee.

Since 1927 he taught at the Swinton Fitzwilliam School, the Armthorpe Senior Mixed School (where he inaugurated and organised the present dramatic society) and he succeeded Mr. C. R. Green as head of the Kilnhurst National School in 1932 He has taught at Wombwell, Arrnthorpc and Swinton Bridge Evening Institutes.
