American Scholarship

An old student at Mexborough Secondary School, who gained a M.A.degree after studying at St Andrews University, Edinburgh, Miss Constance Mary Wolfenden, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A Wolfenden, of 95 Station Rd, Swinton, has now been awarded a Pennfield scholarship valued at $1000, and tenable at a New York University.

Miss Wolfenden who was at Mexborough secondary School from 1936 to 1944 was awarded a miners welfare scholarship to St Andrew’s University.

She was the only person at the University to obtain a degree after two years because.

She hopes eventually to enter the Foreign Office.
