Died Of Wounds
Mrs. E. Oxberry, of 79 Wentworth Road, Piccadilly, Swinton has been officially informed that her brother, Leading Aircraftman S. Drower (21) died on September 13th, from injuries sustained as a result of enemy action on September 12th.
He had been over two years abroad and had been with the 8th Army since El Alamein.
Before joining up he was employed by Tinsley Colliery Co. as a blacksmith’s striker. On September 9th he sent a letter to a Mrs. Dobson (a neighbours) stating that he was fit and well and hoped to be seeing them all at Christmas.
This was received by Mrs. Dobson the same morning as the telegram bringing the sad news reached his sister.
