Promoted
Mr. and Mrs. C. Allen, 245, Queen Street, Swinton, were this week informed that their younger son, Albert, had been promoted from the rank of Flight Sergeant to that of Warrant Officer while serving on the Italian Front.
Albert, who joined the R.A.F. soon after the outbreak of war, was well known in the district both as a footballer and cyclist, having won many trophies.
With the formation of the R.A.F. Regiment he asked for a transfer to this branch and his promotion has been very rapid.
Before joining the R.A.F. Warrant Officer Allen was a machine minder at the South Yorkshire Times Printing Co. Ltd.’s works.
