Assistant Borough Engineer & Sanitary Inspector
Mr. Harold Hughes, who on Monday entered upon new duties as Assistant Borough Engineer and Sanitary inspector to the Deal Corporation, was a native of Swinton who had been at Chippenham (Wilts.), where he had held the office of Assistant Surveyor and Sanitary inspector to the Chippenham Town Council for the past four and a half years.
Mr. Hughes is a son of Mr. W. H. Hughes, licensee of the Ship Inn, and received his training in the offices of the Urban District Council, where he remained for eight years before going to Chippenham.
Mr. Hughes has throughout his stay in Chippenham discharged his duties with ability and tact, and in a manner which has earned not only the approbation of the Borough Surveyor and the members of the Torn Council, but which has won for him the esteem and respect of the whole of the staff and the men in the Surveyor’s department.
