An Old Swinton Inn

The Travellers Rest, Milton Street, Swinton, one of Swinton’s oldest inns, which is undergoing reconstruction.

The landlord Mr G.W.stables, a member of one of the oldest families in the district, furnishes some interesting recollections of the development of the district in an article which appears elsewhere in this issue.

The Travellers Rest was one of *Charles Peace’s favourite haunts, and he and his fiddle were well known there.
