Family Affair

Three members of the family Mr. and Mrs. F. Beldon, 12, Station Road, Swinton, are in the Forces.

Their grandson, Pte. Wilson Beldon (23), son of Mr. and the late Mrs. W. Beldon, of the same address (formerly of Mexborough), has been in the Royal Engineers for nearly three years. He has been in India for about a year. He is an old boy of Swinton Bridge School, and prior to joining up worked as a lorry driver at Messrs. Ward and Sons. Swinton. He is married, and his wife lives In Wath Road, Mexborough. Pte.

Beldon’s two uncles, Fred Beldon (35) and John Beldon (31), are also in the Forces, the former in the R.A.F. and the latter a Private in the East Yorks. Regiment.

Fred has been in the R.A.F. for eighteen months, before which he was employed at Messrs. Hatfield’s, Swinton. Educated at Swinton Bridge School, he was an enthusiastic footballer.

John has been in the Army just over two years and has been in India for five months. He was formerly employed at the works of the Mexborough and Swinton Gas Company.

Pte. Beldon is married and has one son. His wife lives at 13, Coronation Road. Swinton.
