Once a Bus Man

The ordination and induction of Mr Keith Flawn, who will have responsibility who for these Swinton, Mexborough and Rawmarsh Congregational Churches, will take place at Mexborough Congregational church tomorrow (Saturday).

Mr Fiawn, who has moved to Racecourse Rd., Swinton, this week with wife, Maureen, has spent the last five years at the Congregational College, Manchester, and this is his first appointment.

Born in Essex, Mr. Flawn was educated in Hull and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. His father, the Rev. D. Flawn, is a Congregational Minister at Birkenhead.

After leaving school Mr. Flavin worked for a time in insurance then for a short Spell as a ‘bus conductor, and as a steelworker.

His decision to enter the Congregational Church was purely a personal one, he said, and he was not influenced by his father.

“I got a conviction that I was being led to lead this type of life,” he said.
