Soldier – Dixon J.E. – Leg Amputated

Corporal JE Dixon, nephew of Mrs W Callis, 55 Queen St, Swinton, with whom he lived previous to enlistment in September 1914, was severely wounded in the battle of Messines on June 7 and his right leg has since been amputated.

He is now in hospital in Leeds, where is making satisfactory progress. He had only been back in the firing line 3 weeks, after been wounded in the Somme offensive.

Before enlistment he worked at Wath Main.
