Dropped Only One and a Half Marks

11 years old Jane Cooper of 68, Creswell Road Swinton, took part in scripture exams, at Bowbroom Wesleyan Reform Church and out of hundreds of children from dozens of Sunday schools in the Sheffield area she was placed first.

She is a pupil of Queen St, Junior School and she only lost 1 ½ marks out of a possible 100.

On the previous day she heard she had won an essay competition sponsored by a chocolate firm.

Mrs M Waterfield, Sunday school secretary at Bowbroom Wesleyan Reform Church said, “I am very thrilled about this. She has done wonderfully well, and I think it is a marvellous achievement.”
