To Feature in Film
New Offer to Swinton singer

On Wednesday Miss Vivien Parnham, who was placed second by the studio judges in Sundays Carol Levi’s broadcast, received a letter from a British film company inviting her to sing an operatic aria in film to be produced for a new series, “This Modern Age.” She received by the same post two letters from the BBC asking whether she would be willing to take part in further broadcasts.

The letter from Seven League Productions Ltd stated:

“We heard you singing in the Carol Levi’s show last Sunday and we were very disappointed that you did not win first place. Everyone we have spoken to agrees with us that you certainly deserved it.
“We are not one of the big feature film companies, merely a small unit making documentary films. At present we are line of the film for the new J Arthur Rank series, “This Modern Age.”

The film deals with the new upsurge of interest in culture and the arts which has arisen during the war.
