A Curious Transaction.

John Stokes, of Swinton, was ctarged by James Beevors, glass-blower, with stealing a gun at Denaby, on the 22nd Inst.

Prosecutor was at the Greasbro’ Arms, Denaby.’ on the day named, and he left his gun in a corner. He went away for three minutes, and when he returned it was gone.

A man named Street was seen to pick it up, and afterwards give it to the prisoner.

The defence was that Street was the guilty person. He was in court, and was arrested and remanded, together with Stokes.

The court did not rise until after six o’clock.
