Sailor Writes Verses.

Telegraphist Derek Lawrence, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Lawrence, of 29, Slade Road, Swinton, often passes leisure hours on Service afloat writing verses, some of which he has sent home to his parents.

Telegraphist Lawrence is 19, and joined the Navy 13 months ago. Formerly he was a wages clerk employed by a Sheffield firm of contractors, and he has taken an active interest in weight lifting.
