Neighbours Quarrel at Swinton.
Elizabeth Smeeton, of Swinton, summoned Sarah Ryalls, of Swinton for assault.
The case for Mrs Smeeton was that defendant was a neighbour, and both took water from the same yard tap. On December 9 she went to fetch water and defendant came out and pushed her can away. Soon after she went again, and again defendant pushed her away and then threw water upon her. She called a couple of neighbours and had her son-in-law to corroborate the evidence.
Mrs Ryalls, who was very deaf in infirmity, which she said was caused by being knocked down by an engine as she was coming to Rotherham to take out a summons against complainant, said complainant first began the assault by placing her saucepan upon her hand as she was getting water from the branch.
A boy named George White corroborated, and the case was dismissed.
