Moving To Cambridge

Miss J.A. Killock 114, Racecourse Road, Swinton, will be leaving South Yorkshire for Cambridge on September 12.

A graduate of Liverpool University, Miss Killock joined the staff of Wath Grammar School in 1929 and on her retirement in 1959 she was head of the History Department.

She told a “South Yorkshire Times” reporter this week that in Cambridge she hoped to become associated with some aspects of University life.

Interested in international affairs while at Wath, Miss Killock invited coloured students to attend the school’s sixth-form discussion groups, and she says Cambridge offers ample opportunity to help coloured students, especially with language difficulties and social problems.

Miss Killock’s departure will break a long association with a district in which she has a wide circle of friends. She says she hopes to return to Swinton to see her friends, and to keep up her association with Wath Grammar School.
