Former Swinton Overseer
The death occurred on Sunday, a day after his 87th birthday, of Mr. Charles Phillipson. White Lea Road. Swinton, one of the town’s most interesting personalities.

As an overseer of the poor he served the public well for 20 years and he also had one term on the Urban District Council.
The funeral took place at St. Michael’s Church, on Wednesday, the Rev. R. W. L. Bedford officiating.
The mourners included Miss Lily Phillipson, Mr, H. Philipson. Mrs. R. Smith, Mr. C. Phillipson, Mrs. T. Wilkinson, Mrs. Booker, Mr. and Mrs. Rockford, and representatives from the Prudential Assurance Company. There were many floral tributes.
Mr. C. T. Butterfield was the undertaker.
