He Brings Presents From Around the World

Anguilla, Barbuda, Jamaica…Norway, Belgium, Germany…Cyprus, Malta and the Virgin Isles, these are just some of the places that 23-years-old James Scott of Mexborough has visited in the six short months since he went to sea.

James, Clayfield View Mexborough, joined the British India Company last October and since then it has been taken over by the Royal Navy.

Engineer

He is currently serving as 6th engineer on the LSL Sir Tristram, which since its last call in England has visited British Honduras, Caicos, Jamaica, Anguilla and Barbuda.

Since joining James has given presents of all kinds, and from all over the world, to his twice widowed mother Mrs. Wooding.

Jim’s presents have included a wall carpet from Tobruk, a Maltese dining cloth, and many other assorted gifts.

Jim jointed the Navy after working for a Rotherham steel firm, and has no regrets about signing up. He is still away at the moment but hopes to be away on leave within the next few months.

He is a well-known person in Mexborough and was a former youth club member.  A keep-fit fanatic, Jim was formerly a member of the National Weight Training Club.

He has three brothers – Andrew who is the assistant manager with a London electric company, Robert Scott an employee of the C.E.G.B. and Roy Wooding who has just obtained a student apprenticeship with a photographic firm.

Jim was educated at Doncaster Road Infant’s School and Swinton Comprehensive School.
