A/C.2. Roy Thorpe, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Thorpe, of 7, Midland ‘Road, Swinton, who joined the ‘ R.A.F. as a radio telephone operator in July last year, celebrated his 2Ist birthday while on leave during Christmas week.

An old pupil of Swinton Bridge School, A/C. Thorpe was formerly employed at Manvers Main Colliery offices and prior to joining the Forces was secretary of Manvers Main Boys’ Club.
