Swinton Youths Charged

Damage estimated at £5 5s. to growing sycamore and oak trees in Piccadilly Plantation, Swinton, was alleged, at Rotherham West Riding Court on Monday, to have been caused’ by nine Swinton boys and youths, whose ages ranged from nine to 17, armed with an axe and a saw.

It was stated that five sycamore trees, each about 20 feet high, had been chopped down.

Two boys aged nine, and one aged ten, were discharged and the other six were each ordered to pay 17s. 6d. damage and 4s. costs.
