Boxer’s New Battles
A South Yorkshire boxer who is ‘making his mark “somewhere in England” is Lance Corporal A. Mapplebeck, of Bridge Street, Swinton.
He was called up as a Territorial when war started and is well known in the district as a light-weight boxer. He fought under the name “Siki,” and has won a number of fights locally. He is continuing his boxing career in the Army and is attempting to gain the lightweight honours of his unit.
Lance Corporal Mapplebeck was educated at Swinton Bridge Schools.
