Drunk in charge of a horse at Swinton

John Brooke, of Swinton, was fined 20 shillings including costs, on the evidence of police constable Hewitt, for having been drunk in charge of a horse at Swinton on the 6th inst.

The officer having given evidence, defendant pleaded guilty, and said he had given two men halfa gallon of beer and two shillings to take him home. (Laughter)

He hoped the bench would deal leniently with him.
