One of The “Big Shots”

Seaman Gunner Stanley Wright, aged 21, eldest son of Mr and Mrs. W. Wright, of 30, Helena Street, Mexborough, is at present serving on board a destroyer. He joined the Navy in 11936, and for some time was stationed at Malta and Gibraltar.

At an inter-port gunnery competition at Olympia this year be won a medal in the Royal Tournament.

He lived at Swinton for 16 years and attended Swinton Bridge School. He was a member of the school football team.
